Mandy Young is currently the Volunteer and Family Engagement Coordinator with Family Support Institute of BC. She is also the president of the BC Prader-Willi Syndrome Association. As a mother of a seven-year-old daughter with this rare genetic disorder and ASD she has first-hand experience managing the complex care of an individual with special needs. She has been a guest speaker on many parent panels-notably the most recent being the Early Years Conference put on by UBC Continuing Education , workshop facilitator, Parent Mentor for students in the UBC Interprofessional Health Mentors program for the last 4 years, contributor to the Living Library Project and developed case studies for postgraduate medical education. Mandy also facilitates a peer to peer support group in her local community of North Vancouver for families with children aged 0-12 with special needs. In her free time she enjoys running, hanging with her family, travelling and a glass of wine with her loving husband.
